Coach Lock has always liked sports and enjoyed his P.E. class in High School. Lock grew up twelve miles outside of Effingham, Illinois, in a little town called Altamont.  Mr. Lock didn’t always want to be a teacher, but he did, however, want to be a professional athlete.

Some of Mr. Lock’s hobbies include, fishing , hunting, and riding four wheelers for fun. Lock used to work for himself as a construction worker while going to school. Lock played basketball for Lake Lynne College, before transferring to Southern Illinois University to become an P.E. teacher. He was in college for four and a half years including student teaching.  Mr. Lock is now here at our wonderful school for his first year of teaching in a school. He is currently not married and has no children at the moment. Lock did say that he loves to be around kids and have a great time.

Coach Lock says he likes a small school environment, because everyone gets to know everyone. Mr. Lock ended up in our school by hearing about Joppa High School having a coaching job open, so he leaped for his opportunity to become a coach/P.E. teacher. Although the coach likes a small school environment, he wishes we had more equipment for the gym.

Lock also has a favorite person in history, and this person is Teddy Roosevelt. He said that he idolized several sports figures growing up. Mr. Lock plans to have a nice and enjoyable year here at JHS.
