Everyone at
Joppa High knows Mrs. Trampe is the new superintendent for the school
districts. She has her Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees from the University
of Illinois. In fact, she has recently attained her PhD.
Born on May,
11th, in Savanna, Georgia, Mrs. Trampe moved to Metropolis when
she was two years old.
Excelling in many, if not all, subjects at the
school she attended as a younger student, Mrs. Trampe soon found she
enjoyed participating in many
extra-curricular activities. Math Club, Golf Team, and Service Club are
just a few. However, this was before sports such as
basketball and baseball/softball were open to girls.
Today, she
has two children and a cat named Pepper. She still loves golf, for those
of you seeking good competition. She also likes to read and travel. She
likes all kinds of seafood, which is her favorite food.
She used to
be Principal for the district back in 1992-1993, and she says, “It was
great to see many of those Kindergarten students I knew back then
graduating last year.” Her husband, who is a principal in Metropolis,
inspired her to become a principal herself. She was also quoted saying, “I
just like the feeling of being in a position to help.”
She is
fond of working with a small school environment, “One of the great things
about a small school is that people help each other. The work ethics and
manners are both amazing. It’s better than a big school where you’re just
a John Doe anonymous. The good student/teacher ratio is good as
well.”
You may think
you know Mrs. Trampe by now but chances are you are wrong. If you see her
at school one day just say "hi." She would be glad
to chat with you for a moment or two and you’ll see that she is a great
person to get to know.
