Mrs. Jennifer Abate-Barrett is a Title 1 Reading
teacher at Joppa Maple Grove. The idea to become a teacher came to her
when she was in elementary school. She admired her teacher very much.
She loved the way that her teachers made the school interesting.
Currently she has been teaching for twelve years.
Mrs. Barrett is married with 4 kids. Along with
family members, she has a sister named Julie and a brother named Jeff.
She grew up in Southern Illinois. She spent part of her childhood in
Johnson County and the other part of her childhood in Hardin County. She
graduated from Vienna High School, and attended college at Southeastern
Illinois College, Joliet Junior College, and SIU-C.
She owns a dog, a cat, a horse, and a turtle. Her
hobbies include spending time with her family and being outside. Her
favorite time of year is fall.
Mrs. Barrett said that she likes her job because she
likes to see the children learning new things. She has a special place in
her heart for her students. She says that she enjoys her teaching job,
and that it really means a lot to her. She goes on to explain that her
job is very challenging, but also very rewarding. She likes the children,
and being able to make a difference in their lives.
So far she said that she has enjoyed her teaching
experiences here at Joppa-Maple Grove.
